Sharing is the most underrated trade show feature
When visitors become your channel
Think about what happens when you've been to a good trade show.
You come home and tell your colleague about the exhibitor you found. You send a photo to a friend. You mention it to your boss: "We should send someone next year."
That's sharing. And it's the most underrated feature in the trade show world.
Reach without budget
Every visitor knows someone who should have been there. A colleague with relevant interests. A friend who's looking for that exact product. A buyer who didn't make it.
But sharing takes effort. You have to remember the booth's name, find their website, write a message. Most people never do - not because they don't want to, but because it's too much hassle.
Make it easy, and watch what happens.
One button changes everything
Imagine every exhibitor profile, every program slot, and every floor plan having a share button. One tap, and your colleague gets a link to exactly what you want to show them.
Not just "check out this trade show" - but "check out this specific exhibitor, booth 42, with organic specialty beer from Bornholm."
Specific. Relevant. Personal.
Sharing that's specific is sharing that works. A generic trade show link ends up in the trash. A link to something concrete that matches the recipient's interest - that gets clicked.
The multiplier effect
Here's the potential effect: if even some of your visitors share with one person each, you reach a layer of people you'd never have hit through your own channels. How big that layer becomes depends on how relevant the content is to whoever receives it.
People who get a personal link from someone they know are typically more inclined to click than they are on an ad. It's word-of-mouth in digital form - we don't promise a specific number, but we've seen it move the needle for customers who've made sharing simple.
From visitor to ambassador
Something beautiful happens when you make sharing easy: visitors become ambassadors. They aren't promoting the trade show because you asked them to - they're doing it because they found something good and want to tell others about it.
That motivation can't be bought. It can only be enabled.
Design for sharing
Make sharing a first-class feature, not an afterthought. That means:
- Shareable links for everything - exhibitors, program slots, map views
- Previews that show what the recipient gets - not just a generic URL
- Personal context - "Johannes has marked this exhibitor as a favorite"
- Easy to find - the share button should be visible, not hidden in a menu
